Warning. Some of the words used in this blog may be painful to read and may cause feelings of anxiety (only joking)! I have to talk about the "C" word. The word that makes all women cringe. The word is CELLULITE (ahhhhh!) and with swimsuit season just around the corner it is something that is on my mind.
Now no one has to feel that they are the only one having to deal with this problem. Most of us girls have it at varying degrees. Cellulite does not discriminate. It can rear its ugly head in the young, old, rich and famous. We have all seen the untouched fanny photos of our favorite celebs who also suffer from the effects of cellulite and it is not a pretty site.
We know what cellulite looks like but what is it? Cellulite, simply put is trapped lumps of fat under the skin which is why it has that bumpy look and spongy feel. I have done some work and have uncovered some simple tips on how to handle the look of cellulite. Here is what I have learned. There is no "over the counter" way to completely remove cellulite but you can minimize the appearance of it.
How to fight the look of cellulite.
1. Drink your water it's good for you. Drinking 6-8 glasses of water a day will keep skin hydrated and looking "plumper" (I don't mean fatter) which minimizes the bumpy appearance of cellulite. Water also helps to flush out fat from your body and who doesn't want that?
2. Scrub your bum. Exfoliate your skin, especially your legs and butt where cellulite tends to be most evident. Exfoliating helps improve circulation to skin and also removes dead skin cells which will leave skin softer and smoother. Cellulite will be less pronounced.
3. Exercise your thighs. Exercise, primarily those that work hips, thighs and butt help to replace fat with lean, tone muscle which helps to improve the appearance of cellulite.
4. Tan your can! Yes, really, tan your tush. Using a self tanner really can hide cellulite. I read an article about Victoria's Secret model Marisa Miller who says that she uses self tanner to hide her cellulite. I know, I didn't believe it either that she has cellulite but like I said before cellulite does not discriminate and apparently even the young and fit models have to deal with cellulite just like the rest of us.
I have also found a few creams that have gotten good reviews to help improve the tone of your skin and reduce the appearance of cellulite. The first product is Clarins High Definition Body Lift which makes cellulite less spongy and evident. Murad vitamin C Body Firming Cream tightens and firms problem areas. Both of these products are found at every ones favorite beauty shop, Sephora. Please let me know what has worked for you! Till then! B.
