NAILENE, SO NATURAL ARTIFICIAL NAILS
NAILENE, SO NATURAL ARTIFICIAL NAILSPATIENCE IS A VIRTUE!
Patience is something that I need to work on. I am the kind of person that when I want something, I want it now ( I know, that is not a good trait to have!). Right now I am trying to grow out my nails and I am not having very good luck at it, primarily because it isn't happening FAST enough.( F.Y.I. I just started to grow them out only 3 weeks ago. I told you I'm inpatient!)
This weekend I have a few fun activities planned with my family and I want to look nice ( head to toe kind-of-nice). So, I have decided that I was going to try out Nailene So Natural artificial nails. I am a "newbie" to artificial nails so I wasn't quite sure what to expect, let alone how to apply them!
INSTANT GRATIFICATION
I just love those two little words! Anyway. I can tell you first hand that it is sooooo simple to apply the Nailene So Natural nails. All I did was buff my nails, apply the glue that comes in the kit to my own nails and the artificial nails. Apply the nail and press to hold for a few seconds and that's it! The nails are light as air. I don't even notice that they are on other than the fact that my hands and nails look great!
THE MORAL OF THE STORY
I am a work in progress when it comes to becoming a more patient person, I will be the first to admit that. So, once the artificial nails come off I will be using Nailene Acrylic Strong top coat to strengthen my own nails so that they can grow long and strong on their own. I am sure that I will be fine with waiting, just as long as I have my "back-up" artificial nails (HA-HA!). Please let me know what you think of artificial nails. Till then! B.

Depending on your hair type the next step is to choose a styling product that will hold your tousle. I spritzed the Herbal Essences Tousling Spray Gel on my daughter Madison's hair because she has thicker hair than I do. I think that spray gel is too heavy for fine hair like mine and it works better on medium to thick hair. To blow dry her hair , I just scrunched as I dried it and she ended up with beautiful, full, tousled hair (she LOVED it!).
MOUSSE ME BABY!
For those of us who have fine hair (my daughter Gianna and I) it is better to take the mousse route. Mousse is lighter than spray gel and therefore won't weigh down your hair. All we did was scrunch our hair as we dried it and we also ended up with fuller, tousled hair (we also LOVED it).
THE FINISHING TOUCH
Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Finishing Touch Cream can be used on wet or dry hair to de-frizz hair and hold your tousle longer. I used it on my hair once it was dry to touch up my "tousle" and calm down the frizz.
BRIT'S NIT PICKS
Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly non-aerosol hairspray is the final step in locking in your tousled tresses. I have to be honest and say that I do not like to use non-aerosol hairsprays because with my fine hair I find that they always weigh my hair down and makes it feel wet. Aerosol hairsprays dry quickly and deliver a FINE mist of hairspray which won't flatten out your hair.

CRUNCH TIME
2 girls who love getting French Manicures (3 if you include me!), a crunch for time and the fact that 3 French Manicures ='s $60. I welcome a quicker and less expensive manicure that still gives me beautiful results. This weekend I (yes, me) gave my daughters, my mom and myself French Manicures and they all came out BEAUTIFUL! I used Nailene French Tip Pen Kit and the Nailene Perfect Tips for my manicure. This has to be the easiest way to do a "home-made " French Mani! Now mind you, I am not good at doing French Manicures. I can't seem to get that white line straight especially when I am painting with my non dominant hand! However, with the assistance of Nailene I was able to give and receive a fab French Manicure.
NAILED IT!
Here's my simple recipe for the perfect "home-made" French Mani:
1. Apply the Nailene Tip Guide across the curve of your nail to seperate the tip area.
2. Apply two coats of the Nailene's French Tip White Pen to nail tips, let dry.
3. Gently peel off tip guides.
4. Apply one or two coats of the Nailene Hard and Healthy base color polish over entire nail.
5. You can also add an optional clear top coat for added shine like I did.
6. Stir in lots of laughs and "girl talk", sit back and enjoy!!!
WARNING!!!! Now that you are a "pro" at giving French Manis, you will now be the one who they come back to for future French Manicures!

Yesterday was totally crazy for me. I had forgotten about an appointment I had in the morning until one of my daughters reminded me of it 15 minutes before I had to be there! Of course I had absolutely NO make-up on and I am the kind of woman that wouldn't be caught dead without her make-up on. This crunch for time had presented me with a dilemma. With my limited time what is the 1 item of makeup that I would choose to put on ? The one thing that I would never leave the house without is....... blush! I have blonde hair, light brown eyes and my skin tone is light so I need blush to "liven -up" my face, otherwise I look pale and washed out.

I like to use Elizabeth Arden Color Intrigue Cheekcolor in Tearose to give my face an instant splash of natural color. I find that Elizabeth Arden's cheekcolors go on easily and are "believable" , beautiful colors. This long lasting blush is loaded with vitamins that help skin look radiant and healthy. If pink is your thing , then I would definitely give Color Intrigue Cheekcolor in Pink Glow a try! I would describe this shade of pink as " bashful pink". It is very pretty and ultra feminine.

My name is Britney and I am a closet sweater! Not the kind that is hanging in your closet. The kind that has a perspiration problem. This is not the kind of thing that I like to admit publicly but I feel that I can discuss topics like this with my readers. Blame it on the hormones, the heat and humidity, or the fact that the deodorant companies are not making their products as effective as they once were ( this is of course me finding fault with someone other than me) the fact still remains the same, I sweat more now than I used to. I have tried and REALLY put to the test Certain Dri Anti-Perspirant this past week and my results were AMAZING!
TIME TO KISS YOUR SWEATY UNDERARMS GOOD-BYE!
I applied the Certain Dri Solid Anti-Perspirant to my underarms at bedtime, as directed. went to bed, woke-up the next morning with my underarms completely dry. I have been waking-up lately with sweaty underarms ( gross, I know!). I thought,"okay, it worked well over night but what will happen throughout the rest of my day". You DO NOT re-apply this anti-perspirant again in the morning, you only apply it at night.
This anti-perspirant does not wash off even in the shower. I played outside in the heat with my daughters, spent time at the beach and the pool and I did a "heart-pounding", total body sweating workout and do you know what? Every other part of my body was wet EXCEPT for my underarms!!!! I was completely blown away, this never happened with my other anti-perspirants!! I did this very same test all week long and I got the same results each time (totally amazing!).

T.G.I.F (THANK GOD I'M FEMALE!)
Happy, hot and humid Friday to all! Boy, is it sticky out there today! Hope everyone had a nice week. Any plans for this weekend? I am sure that now the humid weather is here , I will be spending time trying out new products to help control my out of control frizzy hair!
WHY I AM HAPPY TO HAVE BEEN BORN A GIRL
What I love most about Summer is that I can pretty much wear flip flops with any kind of outfit. Who else other than women can wear one type of shoe that looks great with most of our clothes? Skirts, shorts, jeans even my fav simple Summer dress has a pair of flip flops that are the perfect compliment to it! I love my flip flops because they are always comfortable to wear. I never have to worry about getting blisters on the back of my heels or suffering with aching feet like I do when I spend a night out in high heels. Ahhh, my best friend (well, to my feet anyway), flip flops! See how lucky we girls are. We can wear comfortable footwear and still look good! Just don't tell the boys how good we really have it!

Skirts, shorts, jeans even my fav simple Summer dress has a pair of flip flops that are the perfect compliment to it! I love my flip flops because they are always comfortable to wear. I never have to worry about getting blisters on the back of my heels or suffering with aching feet like I do when I spend a night out in high heels. Ahhh, my best friend (well, to my feet anyway), flip flops! See how lucky we girls are. We can wear comfortable footwear and still look good! Just don't tell the boys how good we really have it!

We all know that a lady never kisses (I mean treats) and tells about her secret beauty routine. Most of us do not like to talk to others about our signs of AGING (boy! that's a hard word to say). Who really wants to admit that we are getting older looking? However, this lady has loose lips and I have no problem " spilling the beans" about my beauty treatments! Sooner or later we all need a little help for the problem areas of our skin. As for myself, right now I am finding that my skin is starting to look a little " flat" and it is in need of some "perking-up".
SAVING FACE
Okay, I admitted it. My skin needs some rejuvenation. They say that admitting you have a problem is the first step in recovery so, I guess I am headed in the right direction! I have started to use NARS Potent EFA Cream which contains Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic Acid is the newest thing in ultimate skin hydration. It allows skin to hold onto an incredible amount of moisture which ultimately "plumps up" skin , giving you a smoother more youthful appearance (Hooray!). I do however consider NARS Potent EFA Cream to be a selfish splurge because it has a price tag of $70.
CAUTION! SANDBLASTING TAKING PLACE
Not nearly as abrasive as sandblasting, Perricone MD Concentrated Restorative Treatment is a night cream with Vitamin C Ester and DMAE which gently resurfaces skin's surface. This beauty treatment decreases discoloration, improves appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and through the magic of DMAE your skin will look and feel firmer and more toned! Both my Mom and I have tried this product and we both give it thumbs WAY up!
WANT A CHEAP THRILL?
Not quite sure that you want to spend $70- $100 for a beauty treatment like the ones I just described? Then give The Garnier Nutritionist Skin Renew line a try!

BRIT'S QUICK BEAUTY TIP
I wanted to share with you an article I found in this months Glamour magazine. The title of the article is" 10 Backstage Tricks That Work in Real Life". I am referring to trick #9 " How to Detox Your Hair". Ted Gibson gives a tip on how to create a homemade detox for your hair." "To beat up buildup, add a teaspoon of vinegar to your shampoo bottle and shake it up" This should be done once a week. I tried this "concoction" and my hair was fuller and shinier. I have colored hair and the vinegar did not dry out my hair. I you are looking for an inexpensive way to detox your locks then I would definitely give this a shot!

I am always on the hunt for a hairspray that will lock in my style and at the same time will miraculously not weight my hair down! I have fine hair and it really doesn't take much to un-do my "do" ( ahhh the joys of fine hair)! While I was in Atlantic City I came across Philip B Jet Set Hair Spray at Bluemercury and since I had never tried this product before and I really liked the packaging (I am a total sucker for pretty packaging!) I thought I 'd give it a shot.
I JUST WANTED TO BE HELD!
Philip B Jet Set Hair Spray delivers a light mist of hairspray at a high powered force. I find that a lighter misting of hairspray doesn't flatten my hair and actually provides a much needed lift to my locks. The scent is clean, fresh and definitely does not have an overpowering perfumey smell. This hairspray will not offend others. I sprayed my hair with the Jet Set Hair Spray after I set it with velcro rollers and my hair held the curl all day long. It also provided texture to my hair without stiffness or stickiness. As far as humidity is concerned, I tested this hairspray out on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City and I am very happy to report to you that frizz and unwanted "puffiness" was no where in site.
HOW DO YOU PUT A PRICE ON PERFECT HAIR?
Philip B Jet Set Hair Spray has a price tag of $30, which is a bit more than I usually like to spend on hairspray but to its credit you do not need to use much in order to get good results! I am sure that I will be able to get 2 months out of this 1 can which is much better than the 1 can per week that I used to go through back in the 80's ( ahhh the good old hairstyles of the 80's).

T.G.I.F. (THANK GOD I'M FEMALE!) RED DOOR SPA
Is it Friday already? I can't believe how fast this week flew by. Well , anyway happy Friday to all! I hope you had a great week and that your weekend is even better. Last week while I was in Atlantic City my hubby treated me to a facial and massage at the Red Door Spa at Harrahs. I absolutely love the Red Door Spa! Going to the spa is such a "girly" thing to do and that is why The Red Door Spa is what makes me smile a big girly smile this week!
WHAT MAKES ME SMILE A BIG GIRLY SMILE
Every girl needs a little pampering once in awhile to rejuvenate herself so that you can keep on doing all the many things that only a woman can do ( for me it is taking good care of those closest to me). From the luxurious soft, comfy robes to the soft candlelit hallway and rooms to the very "zen" like feel to the spa, it would be very difficult to find anyone who wouldn't be completely enchanted with this spa. I like to refer to The Red Door Spa as a "woman's paradise". You leave the spa feeling totally pampered and feeling like a princess. The massage is ooooohhh so good. It left me completely relaxed and rejuvenated. The Red Door Spa is definitely top notch when it comes to facials. My skin post treatment is tighter, enlivened and glowing.
I must tell you that my esthetician used the Elizabeth Arden Prevage face and eye treatment and o.m.g it really works!!! The products are on the pricey side so I would consider them to be a "selfish splurge". For now I think that I will be using just the samples. I can't wait for our next trip to Atlantic City later this month so I can once again revisit my woman's paradise!
